Fibre Technologies conceived, engineered, constructed and secured funding for a state-of-the-art packaging facility in Gilroy, California called Fibre Innovations, in order to produce a wider palette of corrugated material than was common at that time. The 2.8m BHS corrugator was designed to produce A-to-N flutes in single and double wall configurations at high speed and was designed with a unique unit-building downstacker component.
Lightweight, High Performance and Specialty Packaging
The Fibre Innovations sheet feeder was designed to be highly productive across a wide range of basis weights, grades and constructions. Sheets could be produced to exhibit high strength-to-weight performance or produced using lighter featherweight™ liners and mediums. This flexibility and unique converting capability attracted a wider customer base, a base that came to include folding carton companies and other niche converters.
This project was accomplished in partnership with several independent corrugated companies and St. Laurent Paperboard. Unique lightweight corrugated case material from the Thunder Bay paper mill was converted including 60-70gsm containerboard and 100% recycled bag/sac kraft.
